Our YMCA

The Y's Mission:

To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Our Cause:

At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn and grow.

Who We Are:

The Y is the nation's leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Involvement at the Y:

The Y hopes to engage more people in the communities it serves whether it is as a member, volunteer, supporter or advocate. All play a vital role in strengthening our communities. The Ashtabula County Family YMCA was established in 1868. It has been located at 263 Prospect Road since 1961, when the Civic Development Corporation built it as one of it's first projects. The 1995 CDC campaign enabled the YMCA to develop the pavilion and outdoor basketball court on Lake Avenue. This area is used all summer for the recreational programs, outdoor basketball, and a picnic area for parties and gatherings. In the 2000 CDC campaign, the YMCA was able to remodel and upgrade four locker room facilities and add a special needs locker room. This has greatly benefited the members and program participants, offering a brightly lit modern environment with ease of accessibility. We have grown by 78 memberships since these improvements have been made.
